Abstract
334,684. Neilson, T., and Marshall, J. Aug. 14, 1929. Ventilators; valve apparatus.-An air-distributing device adapted to be rotated by the reaction of the air issuing from it is in communication with a pair of ducts supplying cold and warm air, the proportions of cold and warm air being determined by valve means. The apparatus shown comprises four hollow vanes 1 mounted radially on a rotatable cylindrical casing 4 which is suspended by means of a frusto-conical bottom 10 from a ball-bearing 11 carried by a spider 12 supported from the bottom of an air chamber casing 15. Air is admitted to the air chamber bv two inlets s communicating with the hot and cold air ducts, one of which inlets is shown at 21. A single, flap valve 22 operated by a handle 24 controls the two inlets differentially and so varies the proportions of hot and cold air. The air passes into the casing 4 and thence to the hollow vanes, from which it issues by slot-like apertures extending along one edge. An apertured sleeve 5 in the casing 4 forms a check valve, and is adjustable by a handle 6 to vary the amount of air delivered. Instead of forming a unitary structure the distributing device and the hot and cold air proportioning means may be separate. The proportioning and check valves may be operated through remote control mechanism, such as a Bowden cable or electrical means, or they may be thermostatically controlled-
