Abstract

Packeting by wrapping-up.-In a machine for wrapping or labelling cylindrical or prismatic articles, such as chocolate sticks, sugar cigarettes, rolls of tablets, bottles, and the like, the article 1 and wrapper or label 3 are deposited upon a leather, webbing, rubber, or like band 2 secured at one end to a cam-controlled lever 5 and resiliently held at the other by a spring 13. A ram 4 presses the article, together with the band and wrapper, downwards between rollers 10, 11 mounted on a horizontally oscillatable carriage 8. During the descent, a lever 6 carrying the roller is moved into the position shown in Fig. 2, so that a partial enfolding takes place, the lever 5 moving to the left and then backwards to stretch the band. The carriage 8 and associated rollers are then moved to the left to complete the application of the wrapper. The higher position of the roller 10 ensures that the left hand end of the wrapper is rolled under the other end. Upon arrival beneath a plate 12, the parts 6, 10, 11 take up, their original relative positions and the wrapped article is pressed up into the path of an ejecting member 14.
