Stuffing-boxes, substitutes for.-In a doll-head bearing of the type in which a collar d, carried by a corrugated tube D, is pressed against the end of the trunnion A by a spring C, the interior of the tube D is protected by a tube G, secured to the collar d, or to a collar d<1> at the other end of the tube D. The collar d<1> may be screwed into the cap a, or may be carried by a flexible diaphragm, as shown. Alternatively, the collar a may be carried by a diaphragm, or both collars may be carried by diaphragms.
