Abstract

333,198. Fournier d' Albe, E. E. F. April 6, 1929. Optical -projection apparatus.- Apparatus for projecting luminous signs on to distant screens such as naturally or artificially formed clouds, consists of a number of separate optical devices each comprising a long focus lens 3, Fig. 2, a convergent lens 4 positioned within the focus of the lens 3 and a light source 5 having a lighting element of substantially straight line form situated at or near the principal focus of the lens combination. The light source and the lenses may be capable of adjustment relatively to each other, and the lighting element may be in the form of an incandescent lamp having a thick or spiral filament of carbon, tungsten or other refractory material. In use a number of the optical devices 1 are arranged as shown in Fig. 1, to form any desired sign on a distant-screen 2 and the luminous images may be superimposed to increase the brightness.
