Abstract
332,694. Headley, F. H., and Tan-Sad, Ltd. June 12, 1929. Wheels.-Spoke flanges or wheel discs c are secured to a tubular hub-barrel a by clamping between solid double-thickness flanges a' pressedup from the barrel. Fig. 2 shows dies for use in assembling the parts. The hub-barrel a is fitted between the halves of a lower die b, and forcibly gripped when a roller g<1> carried by the upper die traverses an incline b<6> on the movable half of the lower die. The cupped spoke-flange or disc c, with or without a spacing-collar f, is slipped over the tube a, and received on spring-pressed pins b<1>. The upper die d carries a plunger e adapted to fit closely within the tube a so that the latter is bulged outwardly to form the flanges a<1>, at the unsupported parts on each side of the disc &c. c, when the upper die is forced home.
