Abstract

332,594. Wade, H., (Bakelite Corporation). April 23, 1929. Drawings to Specification. Compound sheet materials; multiple superposed coatings.-Laminated products and other electrically insulating materials comprising a cellulose material such as paper or fabric, and a hardened synthetic resin binder, such as phenol-aldehyde condensation products, are surfaced with an electrically non-conducting layer substantially free from carbon containing materials. The surfacing layer, preferably of asbestos in the form of paper, fabric or loose fibre, is united to the body portion by a partial penetration only of the resin binder, leaving the outer surface, which may be coated with a non-carbonaceous filler and as sodium silicate, free from carbon containing materials.
