Abstract

Applied by speed-responsive devices. - In governors for gramophones, etc., the fixed and stationary bushes are provided with abutments which engage slots or notches in the ends of the mexible members carrying the weights. The abutments may flex the members a predetermined amount. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the weights are mounted on the flexible arms g towards the spindle a. The fixed and movable bushes c, d respectively are provided with angularly disposed abutments f engaging slots h in the arms g which slots are of sufficient length to enable them to be placed over the abutments which are undercut for the purpose. The bushes c, d, have conical extensions k to support the free ends of the members g which pass through slots in the brake disc e. In a modification the free ends of the arms g are notched and engage single slots in the flange f. In the construction shown in Fig. 8, the notched ends of the member g have a four point seating on the flange F on either side of the slots receiving the members. The conical members may have flats to increase the support for the free ends of the members g. In a modification, Fig. 11, the masses are arranged away from the spindle a, the bushes c, d have undercut or notched abutments f, a conical extension k, and flanges or rings m are provided. The abutments may have angularly disposed surfaces to engage the upper surface of the members g to flex them when the governor is idle.
