Abstract

332,399. Power, R. F. July 15, 1929. Labels combined with communication sheets. - To faciltate the addressing of envelopes, the communication sheet sent out by the addressor is provided with a detachable adhesive label which is detached by the addressee and applied to the envelope used for the reply. In one form the communication sheet 1, Fig. 1, has a corner or other portion thereof demarked by lines 2, 3 of perforations or the like, and bears the name and address of the addressor, a part or the whole of the rear face of the demarked portion being provided with ahesive. One corner of the reply label may be marked to indicate the particular department to which the reply is to be sent. In another form adhesive reply labels are bound into pads, from which they can be detached and secured to a communication sheet, being afterwards detached therefrom lay the addressee and secured to the reply envelope. The labels comprising the pad may have a gummed margin 8, Fig. 5, by which they are attached to the commur.ication sheet, and a line of perforations 9 to facilitate the severance of the label portion 4. The lower edge 4b of the label may be ungummed to facilitate handling, and is perforated at 10 to enable it to be removed from the remainder of the label. The line of perforations 9 is so formed that the paper tears along that line more readily than along the line 10 when the lower edge 4<b> is pulled to detach the label from the pad. The portion of the communication sheet above which the label is secured, or the margin 8 of the label, may bear an inscription to indicate the date on which a reply is sent.
