Concrete flooring.-In the surfacing of roads &c. with bituminous material, small fragments of pitch, bitumen, asphalt, or other bituminous material are distributed in an open mosaic fashion over the surface of the concrete before setting, and are tamped or rolled flush or substantially flush, so that, after the concrete is set and the tar or other surfacing coat is applied, the latter will be positively keyed to the concrete. In an 'alternative method, for use where a concrete surface is finished off with a thin layer of screeded cement applied while the concrete is still "green," the fragments of bituminous material may be mixed with the cement before it is spread.
