Name and number plates; signs, supporting and securing.-Electric signs are adapted to be operated by two or more distinct electric circuits of different voltages so that tubular filament lamps p, which may be used to build up individual letters, may be supplied with the different voltages occasioned by their different lengths. As shown, the lamps are mounted on letters A of trough form attached to panels p<1>, from the rear side of which project contact clips adapted to engage the four conductors b, b<1>, b<11>, b<111>, which are maintained at different potentials and also serve to support the letters. The conductors, which may be straight or curved, and may be mounted on an insulated base or on separate insulators attached direct to a wall &c., are preferably fed from different tappings of the secondary of a transformer. Dummy panels p<11> may be provided to fill in the spaces between words &c.
