Combined buffer and draw-gear.-In a combined buffer and draw-gear for railway &c. vehicles of the kind in which a draw-bar yoke 11 surrounds follower plates 4 which co-operate with wedgeshaped friction members 3 and also with a spring or springs resisting movement of the wedges, the springs are of the indiarubber type, preferably comprising a series of rubber frames, bars or concentric rings 1 moulded on to perforated metal plates. In the construction shown a rubber spring is mounted on a central metal rod 8 and extends between end plates 2 having cam surfaces 7, between which and the wedges 3 are disposed cylindrical rollers 5. Both under buffing and draught stresses the movement of the wedges 3 compresses the spring, which is divided into two portions by a plate 10 secured to the rod 8.
