Abstract
331,016. Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., Birchall, T., and Coffey, S. April 18, 1929. Thioamino compounds are obtained by the action of sulphur chloride S2 Cl2 in aqueous neutral or alkaline solution or suspension on secondary amines. The amine salt may be used in place of the free amine, and the products may be represented by the formula RR<1> N. S. S. NRR<1> where R and R<1> are univalent organic radicles, or together represent a divalent organic radicle. In examples (1) sulphur chloride (S2 C12) acts on an aqueous solution of diethylamine; (2) sulphur chloride acts on a mixture of diethylamine hydrochloride and caustic soda; (3) sulphur chloride acts on an aqueous suspension of ethyl aniline; piperidine is also specified as a parent amine.
