Abstract

330,762. Clarke, Chapman, & Co., Ltd., and Read, A. June 6, 1929. Controllers, locking. -A disc 6 with a stepped periphery and attached to the shaft of a barrel controller is obstructed from movement to the reverse position as long as one of the pawls 1, 2 is pulled down by the energization of the coils 5 which are connected across the motor armature. Thus as long as the motor continues to run in one direction and develops a back E.M.F., its connection cannot be reversed. If the controller controls contactors for dealing with the motor current, but reverses the armature currents on the barrel, then the part 7 of the drum can be sufficiently long so that the contactor circuits can be broken but the reverser circuits cannot be broken until the coils 5 are de-energized. A modified construction is disclosed in which a double-ended pawl influenced by a single coil is used instead of the pair of pawls 1, 2<1>.
