Axle-trucks and bogies; springs, arrangement of.-In a railway or-tramway vehicle bogie of the kind in which the weight of the body is distributed between the centre and side bearings by means of springs associated with transverse pivoted levers, the levers are so arranged that, when the body tilts to one side and part of its weight is thereby transferred to the opposite side, the position of the centre pivot with respect to the outer ends of the levers remains unaltered. In the construction shown the weight of the vehicle body is distributed through a centre bearing 2<a> and side bearings 8 to a swinging bolster 2 supported from the frame 4 by pivoted links 7. The centre pivot pin 3 is anchored to an inverted laminated spring 5 connected to the ends of transverse levers 6, which are pivoted at their outer ends to the bolster and at intermediate points to the links 7. Thus, if a rolling movement to the left occurs as illustrated in Fig. 7, the links 7 effect a displacement of the bolster and vehicle body to the right, while the relative position of the pin 3 and outer ends of the levers 6 is unaltered. Other arrangements are described in which the bolster and swinging links are dispensed with, in which coil springs are disposed between the outer ends of the levers 6 and the side bearings, and in which the laminated spring 5 is replaced by coil springs and spring beam.
