Cupping.-In drawing hollow cylinders, e.g. bushes or rollers for driving chains, any faulty alignment of the partly cupped blank 14 is prevented by a locating punch 30 which presses all round the edge of the cup to seat it in the die 20, followed by a re-cupping punch 22. Partly formed cups fed from hoppers 46, Fig. 9, as described in Specifications 295,439; or 321,812, [Class 83 (iii), Metals, Cutting], drop down curved shoots 48 and are pushed by the sides 68 of a feed slide 56, one blank into each of the two guide bushes 18 where they are operated on by two sets of punches 30, 22. The slide 56 in moving forward closes the exits of the shoots, and is operated by a cam and bell-crank lever. Springs 76 on the slide 56 click back past the blank on return of the slide by spring 58. Fig. 7 shows punches 30 &c. in duplicate with spring strippers 42. The concentric punches are operated by inner and outer rams, the outer being operated by a cam 36 or crank shaft 37.
