Abstract

Hinged and folding handles. - The folding casing of a knife blade 1 comprises arms 4 pivoted to the stock of the blade, the other end of each arm being pivoted to an arm 6 slightly longer and wider than the arms 4 and adapted to enclose them in the open position, Fig. 3. The other end of each arm 6 is pivoted to a guard member 7 through which the blade slides and which may be lined with frictional material e.g. a compound of asbestos to clean, sharpen and polish the blade. In the closed position the blade is completely enclosed and in the open position, Fig. 3, the arms form a handle, locking means for either position comprising a clamping member 15 pivoted to an arm 6. Fig. 2 shows the knife half-opened. The guard 7 and locking member 15 have symmetrical protective projections 12, 19, of ornamental shape amd a chain 13 is mounted on the projections 12.
