Applying liquids to parts only o f materials. -Apparatus for dyeing yarn locally, the parts not to be dyed being pressed between laths, comprises a preferably square rotary drum in a bath 1, the drum being composed of longitudinal laths 5 on which the yarn 6 is placed. Round this is wrapped a four-part hinged frame composed of similar laths 7 which is pressed on the yarn by parallel beams 15, 16 drawn together by screws 20 on pivoted links 17.
