Abstract
327,968. Carpmael, A., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Jan. 12, 1929. Surface treatment with liquid or semi-liquid materials.-Relates to a process for removing layers of dirt and rubber-like material from roads. The surface of the road is sprayed with sulphonation products of organic compounds or with soaps or substances possessing soap-like or hydrotropic properties, or with mixtures thereof. In addition, the road may be treated with organic solvents or liquids which are capable, either alone or in the presence of the above-mentioned materials, of dissolving oils, fats, or tars and the like. The road is subsequently treated either by sweeping or brushing, or by washing with water. According to one example, 200 parts by weight of soft soap are mixed with 50 parts of methyl cyclohexanol and 200 parts of trichlorethylene. Instead of the soft soap of this example, naphthenic acid salts or Turkey red oils can be used. Specification 337,928 is referred to.
