Carriages, sleeping. - In a railway sleeping-car having a central longitudinal aisle 8 and compartment sections on each side thereof, each section comprises an upper and a lower compariment which are separated by a partition arranged to form for the upper compartment a floor on two different levels 70, 71, the lower level floor 70 being disposed over the berth 21 in the lower compartment and providing standing room for dressing purposes for the occupant of the upper compartment, while the upper level floor 71 supports the upper berth 27 and provides beneath it standing room for the occupant of the lower compartment. For the day use of both occupants the seats 12 in the lower compartment are transversely arranged as shown at the left hand of Fig. 1, the right seat being movable ; for sleeping purposes, the two seats 12 and the back 19 of the fixed seat are arranged to form a longitudinal couch for the occupant of the lower compartment as shown to the right hand of Fig. 1, the compartment being closed by foldable panels 16, 17 and door 18. Access to the floor level 70 of the upper compartment is obtained through a door 13. The upper compartment is furnished with a fixed lavatory basin 25 and mirror 26, and the lower compartment with foldable basin 23 and mirror 24, while heaters 28, 29 are provided for warming purposes. At the ends of the car are located closets 30, 31, linen or like cupboards 32, 33 and an attendant's compartment 34 with an upper transverse berth 35.
