Abstract

327,040. Gray, A. J. May 2, 1929. Thermometers.-An indicator device for use in cooking, particularly in boiling &c. eggs, comprises a thermometer 1 having its lower end enclosed in heat-insulating material 3 causing a delay in the action of the thermometer so that the liquid index reaches a given level after the thermometer has been immersed in boiler water &c. for a given time. The material 3 is enclosed in a metal casing 4 which is closed at its upper end by a cap 5 to which is connected a. sleeve 6 surrounding the upper part of the thermometer. The sleeve is provided with windows 7, three being shown which are so disposed that the index apears opposite successive windows after definite periods of immersion of the instrument in boiling water. A trav 9 with receptacles 10 for eggs may be attached to the lower end of the casing 4.
