Abstract

Connecting-rods.- A gudgeon pin which is adapted to be secured to a split small end of a connecting rod is made hollow for lightness, of internal profile that is conducive to strength and easy to machine. Fig. 1 shows a truncated conical profile 2 merging into a cylindrical portion 1 at the ends. The outer surface of the pin may be reduced in diameter for a portion of the length in contact with the small end, this removes the hardened skin. Fig. 3 shows two truncated conical sections 5 and 6 merging into a cylindrical portion 1 at the ends. The diameter is reduced for a length A as shown.
