Abstract
326,494. Gumtau, H. Sept. 14. 1928. Travelling-band presses. - A press for extracting vegetable oils and simultaneously making fodder cakes comprises two endless straining bands engaged by converging pressing bands which are driven by members gearing with the actual pressing members of the pressing bands intermediate of the inlet and outlet ends of the press. The material under treatment is fed between the straining bands w from a container e by a worm d and a nozzle-shaped mouthpiece c, the outlet of which is controlled by a slide valve or the like. The upper pressing- band is formed of sections a<1>, Figs. 2 and 4, connected by links h. The sections a<1> engage in sections k of U-shaped cross-section which form the lower band and which are connected by links l. The elements a<1>, k. are guided by central rails q and the links h, l, by side rails r. The bands are driven by toothed wheels s which engage racks u formed on the elements and are carried by axles provided with pulleys t. The sections k have strainer plates m supported over recesses o with drainage apertures p. Guide rollers v around which the bands w pass are resiliently mounted.
