Abstract

326,151. Whitehead Torpedo Co., Ltd., and Jones, A. E. Dec. 4, 1928. Calculating-apparatus with printing mechanism. -A printing-calculating machine is provided with an attachment having a removable spool carried by a spindle rotated by a spring and upon which the strip of recording paper issuing from the machine is wound as the operation of the machine proceeds. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, an arm or bracket B, pivoted to the frame A of the machine, has an eccentric adjusting device B<2> and supports a spindle D<1> upon which is detachably mounted a spool comprising a slotted tube C with end flanges C' connected to bosses C<2> fitting within the tube C. The record-strip issuing from the machine is wound on the spool under the control of a clock spring D<3> and gearing connected to a pinion D<2> on the end of the spindle D'. The clockwork mechanism can be locked and released as required by operation of a lever b' controlling a double pawl co-operating with one of the gear wheels. When the spool with the record-strip thereon is removed from the machinc it is rotatably supported in a separate contrivance provided with an additional spool on to which it can be wound and then rewound on to the removable spool for the purpose of inspecting the data entered.
