325,406. Ramsden, H., and Ramsdens (Halifax), Ltd. March 9, 1929. Gaiters.-The meeting edges of a flexible gaiter enclosing a laminated vehicle-spring are secured together by metal straps J fixed on one edge and bent round the rod B secured to the opposed meeting edge, the straps being then turned back and held in position by bending metal tongues K down on to them. The edge of the gaiter to which the straps J are secured is stiffened by a longitudinal metal-insertion G<1> to which are secured the straps J and the tongues K by means of rivet H. The rod B is secured in the other edge of the gaiter by bending the leather &c. round it, the material being cut away at intervals. The pliable straps J may be made so long as to encircle the gaiter completely as shown at M before they are finally locked by the strips K.
