Abstract
325,300. Jensen, C. A., (Bartlett Hayward Co.). Nov. 21, 1928. Scrubbers and washers.-A countercurrent gas washer with pumping and spraying means on a rotary vertical shaft has a series of baffle plates on the casing forming pockets open at their inner ends and extending to the wall of the casing around the spray. The pockets are formed by an annular perforated plate. 20, a lower annular inclined plate 21, and perforated division plates 18. Gas entering at 2 is sprayed with water from a rotary cone 15 and after passing through water descending from a tray 12 is sprayed by water lifted from the tray by a cone 16 revolving on the shaft 10. The gas is forced into the pockets by blades 17 revolving on the cones. Above the cone 16 is an imperforate plate 19 to direct the gas through the perforated plate 20 and spray it with water from overflow tubes 23 in a tray 22. Further cones 16a, 16b, trays 22a and baffles 18<a>, 19<a>, 20<a>, 21<a> repeat the washing, and the gas passes baffles 6, 7, to an outlet 3. The water enters by a pipe 24 and inverted central cup 25 and is withdrawn at 14. Specification 8875/ltl is referred to.
