Abstract

324,638. Marks, Sir G. C., (Plastic, Inc.). Oct. 26, 1928. Alginic acid.-A composition comprising a kelp treated with copper sulphate solution, macerated and ground with fibrous material end subsequently admixed with ammonia is used for covering electric cables, or steam pipes &c., or for moulded articles. The fibrous material may be asbestos, cork or jute flocks with or without a refractory material such as silica. In an example kelp is treated with copper sulphate solution, drained, ground up with asbestos fibre and mixed with aqueous ammonia.
