Abstract

324,593. Rixen, C. J. April 29, 1929. Rope-actuated, single-acting bucket pumps.- A measuring pump, especially for inserting in the usual openings in oil drums, comprises a piston a moved bv an endless cord k on pulleys l all enclosed in the casing and operated by a handle o. One side of the cord passes through a packing in the piston or may be attached to a separate small piston q, Fig. 2, working in a tube p. Two such tubes, one on each side, may be provided for balancing the friction. The tube p may be outside the casing. In Fig. 4 the cord passes over a hand-rotated drum l, a thread n on the spindle being proportioned to cause axial movement of the drum to keep the pull of the cord vertical. Adjustable stops s<1> on casing and drum are provided.
