323,844. Monheim, R. Oct. 30, 1928. Delivery of articles stored in piles; coin action, mechanical-connection.-In a machine for vending a plurality of kinds of goods, purchasable by coins of a single denomination, the coin is inserted in a slot 4, Fig. 1, and passes through a tester 5 to a shoot 6 from which it drops to either of two shoots 7, 8 according to which is selected by the purchaser. The purchaser rotates an outside knob on a spindle 15 having a cam 14 to operate a pivoted sprmgcontrolled arm 12 carrying an obstructing plate 10, the knob also having a pointer turning to an inscription denoting the kind of goods selected. In one position, the cam causes the plate 10 to enter a slot 9 and divert the coin falling from the shoot 6 to the shoot 7. When the plate 10 is withdrawn in the other position of the cam, the coin drops down the shoot 8. The coins are received in either of two slots 26, Fig. 3, in a plate 21 carried by a spring-controlled spindle 23 rotatable by a knob 25. The coin drops to a lever 28 and engages the racked edge of a plate 29 which ensures a full movement of the coin and plate 21. The projecting edge of the coin pushes out a packet from either of two magazines 2, 3 selected, the packet dropping through a delivery shoot. Returning coins.-Coins rejected by the tester 5 are returned through a shoot 43.
