Abstract

Cam mechanism.-In operating-devices wherein a lever is given a slow lift and allowed to return abruptly, for actuating electric switches &c., a mask 8 attached to the side of the cam 1. co-operates with a spring-pressed plate or arm 13 mounted on the lever 5 at the side of the usual cam bowl 3. The outer edge 12 of the mask coincides with the high part of the cam, whilst its front edge 11 is radial and intersects the cam incline 1 at any desired point. When the cam is rotated in one direction, the bowl 3 rides up the incline 2, the plate 13 on the lever yielding before the radial edge 11 until it rides on the outer edge 12 of the mask. Upon reverse rotation, the bowl or roller 3 is kept out of action until the plate 13 rides off the end of the mask.
