Animals, stocks and like appliances for holding. -A device for holding the head and extending the neck of an animal to be slaughtered by the Kosher method comprises a metal or other frame a having a cross-piece b and a pivoted strap c engaging the forehead and lower jaw of the animal respectively. The frame is further provided with a foot-step d and a handle e. In use, the animal is first thrown on its side, the frame is then applied and by pressure on the foot-rest d the head is turned until the throat is uppermost, the footrest being flat on the ground. Pressure on the handle e then extends the neck. The handle e may be furnished with a hook at its end for engagement with an anchoring member, such as a chain secured to the floor. Pivoted hooks may also be provided on the frame a to engage the animal's horns. The frame a may be made adjustable to various sizes and shapes of heads.
