Razors, safety.-A safety razor comprises a carriage 11 having ribs 12, 13 and a bar 15 extending between the upstanding ends 14, through which a strop is adapted to be threaded, a blade holder 18 mounted on a spindle 16 pivoted in the ends 14, a pinion 17 on one end of the spindle, a lever 27 pivoted on the bar 15 and having at one end an internally-toothed slot 28 engaging the pinion 27 and pivotally connected at its other end to a handle 31, a complementary link 32 pivoted to the handle and to the bar 15 at the other end of the razor, a guard slidably mounted on the underside of the carriage, and a pin 33 in the handle which is adapted to be projected axially therefrom into engagement with the underside of the carriage so as to lock the handle relatively both to the lever and to the carriage for shaving. The guard is in two parts, the comb or roller portion 23, which is slidable in grooves in the main portion 20, having a shank 24 which extends to the rear of the razor and engages a screw 25 adjustably threaded into a lug 26 depending from the part 20. The screw 25 also forms a thumb piece for releasing the blade. The blade 19 is locked in shaving position by notches 22 on the guard 20, which is presised rearwardly by a spring 21. The pin 33, which has a screwed part 36, is adapted to be moved by rotating a knob 34 which is secured to a blade 35 entering a slot in the part 36. For stropping, the pin 33 is withdrawn and the blade released. The blade holder 18 may have an oval bore and be secured to the spindle 16 only at its centre, thus permitting a slight canting movement of the blade during stropping.
