Acetone.-In the production of butyl alcohol and acetone by fermentation, the yield of acetone is increased by the addition of ammonium acetate. By this means raw material such as manioc usually regarded as too poor in protein may be used. The salt may be added at one time, at intervals or continuously. An example is given. Specification 319,079 is referred to.
