Abstract

319,091. Atkinson, F. S. July 9, 1928. Mine props. - A composite prop in which a wooden member is surrounded by a metal casing while allowing the ends of the wooden member to protrude beyond the casing, has the metal casing b formed from two or more plates with spaces e between their edges! and secured in place around the wooden member by means of bands c and wedges d or by means of bolts and screw clamps. Each plate may be formed in two longitudinal sections with overlapping joint, one of the securing devices being placed over the joint.
