Indiarubber, preserving; latex, treating.-Such condensation products of aldehydes and secondary aromatic amines as are resinous and non- accelerators of vulcanization, are employed as antioxidants in vulcanized rubber, and as agents retarding resinification and tack in raw rubber. Compounds specified are the condensation products of formaldehyde and diarylamines such as diphenylamine, phenyl-#-naphthylamine, dinaphthylamine, tolyl-a-naphthylamine, or poly secondary amines such as sym diphenyl p phenylene diamine, sym di # naphthyl p phenylene diamine, p p<1> di (phenylamino) diphenylamine. Primary secondary amines act more generally with aldehydes to form resinous antioxidants. Such are condensation products of p amino diphenylamine and aldol or butyraldehyde, p aminophenyl-#-napthylamine with formaldehyde, aldol, or butyraldehyde, p p<1> diamino diphenylamine with aldol or butyraldehyde, or substitution products of these. Suitable proportions are 0.1-5 per cent of the rubber, the addition being added to the latex or milled into the rubber.
