Lubricants for machinery.-Hydroxyalkyl or hydroxaryl mixed ethers, derived from polyhydric alcohols containing more than two carbon atoms in the molecule, or from their derivatives containing at least two free hydroxyl groups, by the action of alkylene or arylene oxides or halogen hydrins, are used as lubricants for machinery.
