317,313. Camco (Machinery), Ltd., (Assignees of Holms, W.). Aug. 13, 1928 [Convention date]. Delivery apparatus. - Sheets being delivered from a folding or other machine. 10 are directed to different receiving units by means of a deflector 41 rotatable in one direction only to various positions, stop members actuated by the travel of a sheet being adapted to control the rotation of the deflector in order to direct a succeeding sheet into a different course. The delivery mechanism is mounted in a frame 15 detachable from the main machine. Alternate sheets issuing from feed-rollers 17, 18 are directed by the deflector 41 between feed-rollers 26, 28 or 29, 34 respectively having pivoted shoes 49, 50 resiliently mounted and projecting into the path of the sheets as described in Specification 315,692. The spindle 42 on which the deflector 41 is carried is driven from a continuously rotating shaft through a friction clutch which slips when the deflector 41 is held against rotation so as to deflect a sheet upwardly between the rollers 26, 28 by an engaging hook 73 mounted on a spindle. 71 connected by links 67, 69 to a crank 65 on the shaft of the shoe 49. As the edge of the sheet moves forward it engages the shoe 49 and tilts it into the position shown dotted, and this movement is transmitted to the hook 73 by the mechanism 67, 69 so as to allow the deflector to rotate. A spindle 72 coupled to the lower shoe 50 by mechanism 70, 68, 66 similar to the mechanism 69, 67, 65 carrier a stop member 74 which arrests the deflector in position to direct the succeeding sheet to the rollers 29, 34 and releases it when this sheet engages the shoe 50 so as to allow the deflector to move to its initial position. The hook 73 and the stop 74 are provided with resilient adjusting mechanisms 75, 76 respectively. The mechanism may be modified so that consecutive sheets may be directed into any desired number of different paths. Specification 308,352 also is referred to.
