Abstract

316,276. Weber, A., H÷ppner, H., and Weich, H. July 27, 1928, [Convention date]. Celluloid, treatment of.-Celluloid is rendered less inflammable by treatment of the surface with a solution of acetate celluloid in acetone and amyl acetate. Lac dissolved in alcohol mav be added to produce a gloss. In an example, 500 gm of acetate celluloid are dissolved in 1500-2000 gm of acetone to which 100 gm of amyl acetate has been added. 100-125 gm of varnish or shellac dissolved in alcohol is added and the whole is diluted as required with acetone or amyl acetate. The coating may be applied by immersion, spraying &c. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises treatment with a solution of any practically uninflammable substance in a solvent for celluloid. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
