Alarms operated by fusible devices. - A device for operating fire-alarms or extinguishers of the kind in which fusion of a wax or like block allows a gravity member to fall and close an electrical circuit, comprises a bracket 1 with an arm 2 carrying a support 5 with an upwardly-projecting pin 9. A block 8 of wax or the like rests on the support 5 and supports the gravity member 10, which is hollow and carries an adjustable contact 12. The member 10 is separated from, and is guided on, the pin 9 by an insulating sleeve 11. The pin 9 is electrically connected to a terminal 16 in the alarm or other circuit by the support 5, arm 2, and bracket 1. When the block 8 melts or softens, the member 10 falls and closes the circuit at 9, 12. The support 5 is cut away, as at 6, to accelerate the fusion of the wax. Instead of being carried by a wall-bracket, the device may be carried by a cage suspended from a hook. The contact 12 may be insulated from the member 10 and may have an insulating cap or a perforated guard.
