Abstract

315,171. Cooke, F. A. Nov. 7, 1928. Cleansing casks.-Relates to cask-washing machines of the type in which the cask is supported by driven rollers and wherein a number of brushes are automatically moved into and out of contact therewith, the cleaned cask being ejected when the brushes are retracted. According to the invention the brush lowering and raising and the cask ejecting is operated from a common cam-shaft 6. The cam 7 trips a rocking lever to release the gravity operated brushes 13, 14, and the barrel is ejected through the medium of a cam 16. The supply of water is controlled by a cam 21. Weighted chains 11 support the brushes, the weight being raised by means of the cam 7 which has a dwell action, so that the weight is kept raised during scrubbing operation the shaft. 6 being continuously rotated. The ejection of the barrel rapidly follows the scrubbing and closure of the liquid supply valve 22.
