Abstract

Pearing - appliances. - Covers for brooding chambers have an upwardly-widening chimney up which the hot gases pass, bounded at the top by a baffle of non-heat-conducting material having openings at its periphery, through which the hot gases pass from the chimney into the roof in close proximity with the heat radiating wall of the chimney. The heater b, which is preferably a catalytic heater, is placed in a central aperture in the platform a. The brooding chamber c, the height of which is adjustable, is covered by a heat-retaining chamber f, the floor of which c<4> has a flared central portion c<s> and a depending cylindrical portion c<6> which fits tightly into the aperture in the platform a and surrounds the heater, thus preventing any hot gases from entering the brooding chamber. The chimney c' is bounded by the non-heat-conducting baffle g with ports g<1> at its periphery by which the gases and heated air pass from the chimney into the roof. A guard j is provided round the aperture a<1> to prevent the chickens from falling through when the heater is removed for refilling or other purposes.
