Abstract
314,570. Young, Osmond, & Young, Ltd., and Turner, C. C. March 29, 1928. Junction boxes. - The casing of an electric heater which may be of the kind described in Specification 210,646, [Class 39 (iii), Heating by electricity], consists of a body portion 11 and a cover 12, having an aperture 15 formed partly in each portion in which a grooved nipple 13 engages. The nipple is screw-threaded to receive a metal conduit 19, or the groove may be formed in the conduit 19 which may engage directly in the aperture 15. The surface of the casing is made flat at the part where the aperture is formed. Within the casing are turned-in lugs 21 which support pillars 23 which hold the cover 12 in position. The pillars are surrounded by sleeves 25 which bear on an insulating base 20 also carried by the lugs 21. The base supports two terminals each consisting of two parts 33, 32, the latter being flattened at 37 to receive a heating element which may be of the kind described in Specification 288,799, [Class 37, Electricity, Measuring &c.], comprising an insulating support 40 having metal edges 41 and carrying a resistance element 42. The flattened portions 37 face in opposite directions as shown in Fig. 3. The casing may be provided with more than one branch conduit 13.
