Abstract

314,411. Standard Telephones & Cables, Ltd., and Skillman, T. S. March 27, 1928. Automatic exchange systems; amplifying systems for telephony.-A local circuit e.g. that of a relay IR, Figs. 1 and 2, for repeating dialling impulses comprises two or more contacts arranged in series and controlled directly or indirectly by voice frequency relays VF' which according to the Provisional Specification may be of the kind described in Specificactions 224,940; and 244,591, [Class 38 (v), Electric switches &c.]. Fig. 3 shows the application of the invention to an echo suppressing circuit, the operation of relays VF putting a paralyzing potential on the grid of the amplifying valve AV. Fig. 4 shows a dialling circuit, the vibratory relays VF controlling a telegraph relay T with its windings normally energized in opposition and arranged to control a switch M through a repeating relay IR. According to the Provisional Specification, both contacts may be controlled by a single relay with the contacts at the ends of a free-free reed or with the contacts at the free end of an ordinary reed which may be split.
