Abstract
314,127. Pelou, G., and Lassalle, V. Dec. 27, 1928. Vehicle lamps, directing.-The headlights 1 of a motor vehicle are provided with extensions 2 secured in sleeves 3 rotatable in sockets 4 on a transverse bar 5 journaled in bearings 6 and connected with a hand lever 19 for dipping the lamps, the sleeves 3 are. connected by arms 9 and a link 11, and one of the sleeves is connected by an arm 12 and a link 14 with the steering lever 15, the joint 13 being in axial alignment with the bearings 6 so that the lamps can be dipped without being swivelled and vice versa. The hand lever 19 is connected by an adjustable link 18 with the lower end 23 of an extension 2 or with a forwardly-extending crank secured to the bar 5 adjacent a bearing 6. The bar 5 is adjustable in length as by means of clips 5<a> clamping telescopic parts and the link 11 by means of a turnbuckle. The bearings 6 are provided with preferably adjustable means for limiting the dipping movement and are supported by plates 7 on the mudguards 8, shock-absorbing means being preferably provided. The steering-lever 15 is formed with a series of holes 14b to allow for adjustment of the pivoted connection with the link 14. The ball-and-socket joints for the links are removable. The link 11 may be removed so that only one lamp is operated by the steering-gear, means being provided to hold the other lamp in any desired angular position.
