Abstract

313,814. Johnston, E. R., Collins, A. D., and Johnston, J. T. M. Sept. 1, 1928. Feeding - devices.- In a concrete &c. mixer means are provided for feeding aggregate and cement comprising two separate shoots so disposed that the cement falling from one shoot is poured down upon the aggregate passing down the other; a grating &c. is provided for breaking up and distributing the cement. The skip 16 is divided into two compartments by walls 24, 26, the inner compartment forming a shoot for the cement which, as it is discharged, falls through the grating 34 on to the aggregate. The cement shoot is provided with a hinged cover 44 and the grating is provided with freely-hanging, weighted members 46 which are shaken by the aggregate as it falls to vibrate the grating. An additional compartment may be arranged above for sand which similarly falls through a grating on to the cement.
