Abstract

313,668. Line, W. J. March 26, 1928. Plug couplings of the type described in Specification 268,433 having relatively adjustable parts between which apertures of various sizes are formed one of more of which can be used for the passage of the conductors, are provided with a shutter that can be moved independently of the other parts to close the apertures that are not in use. The shutter may consist of a spring ring 17, 18 applied inside or outside the annular wall 1 in which the apertures 5 - - 10 are formed. Or the ring may be rigid and formed with a flange so as to be secured by the screws that enter holes 3 and secure the parts of the plug together. In this case the shutter may be made in two segments. A disc against which the wall 1 fits, and which may have corrugations formed thereon to assist in gripping the conductors, carries the terminals that lie in an annular space 11 and are separated by a pillar 12 or by a loose member 30, Fig. 12, having spaces 30a, 30<b> for the terminals and channels 33, 34 for the conductors. The member 30 may be attached to the cover of the fitting, if this is made separate from the wall 1, or to the shutter.
