Abstract

313,295. Abraham, Ltd., R., and Abraham, R. A. May 26, 1928. Rolling - machines ; reciprocating - mouldtable machines. -' A mould with a remov- 'able base, is charged with tile-forming concrete and then moved laterally under reciprocating rollers, finally being moved still further laterally to a dividing, colouring and delivering station. Figs. 1 and 9 show one construction in which the bottom of the mould rests upon supporting members a<2>, a<3>, Fig. 9, attached to the sides. An asbestos cement sheet is placed over the base and the concrete placed thereon. The charged mould is run under the roller frame B, Fig. 1, which is reciprocated by means of the axially-moving rod C, and is lowered into contact with the concrete by the toggle C<4> manipulated by the handle C<5>. A moisture-absorbing and pressure-evening canvas band E, attached to the roller frame, rests on the upper surface of the concrete without moving relatively to it during the rolling operation. After rolling, the mould base is raised and the base and tile removed laterally to the delivery station. The asbestos cement slut is used to support the tile during hardening, the mould sides and base being returned immediately to the charging end of the machine. Fig. 3 shows a modified construction in which the mould is raised relatively to the roller carriage b<8> by treadle mechanism G. The canvas band E in this case is stretched between two fixed supports c<2> and tensioned by a spring e<3>.
