Abstract
312,890. United Glass Bottle Manufacturers, Ltd., Moorshead, T. C., and Hurlbut, F. A. Nov. 2, 1928. Glass-annealing leers; charges, conveying.-In a glass-annealing leer of the kind having an endless conveyer which is heated adjacent the ware-receiving end, the conveyer band passes, at the entrance end of the leer, around a drum k fitted internally with electric heating elements and the return run b is supported on rollers d within the leer in close proximity to the upper run a. The rollers d are journaled in fixed bearings and the two runs of the conveyer are separated by " noating " rollers c the ends of which are supported in vertical slots cut in side plates e. The drum k is supported at each end by three equally spaced rollers l, Fig. 5, and rotates around a fixed core n formed with longitudinal grooves in which are located electric heating coils p. The latter are connected to leads q which extend through an insulated end plate r, an insulated bracket s, and finally through an insulated cover t to the outside of the leer where they are connected to switch gear so arranged that any number of coils can be cut out when required. The leer has inner and outer walls h, i separated by heat insulating material j and is movablymounted on rollers u.
