Body harness.-Relates to harness for maintaining an airman in safety on his seat, and consists in means to enable him to turn his shoulders when necessary and to reach forward from the waist for obtaining access to gear otherwise out of reach. As shown, a tube 1 is slidable in a bracket 2 and is urged by a spring to bring a lug 4 into contact with the bracket. In this position, it is maintained by spring-pressed detents 5 engaging the tube 1 and released therefrom by the action of a hand-lever 8 and control wires 7. The wires are housed in casings 14 adjustable, at 15. Plates 10 attached to the lug 4 support a pulley 9 over which pass cables 12 attached to the harness straps 13. The harness is shown in Fig. 7, and comprises the customary leg straps 17 and shoulder straps 13x crossing over in front of the wearer nad held together by a pin 23 passing through holes 21, 22 and secured in position by a safety device 23x. Straps 15 are attached to tabs 16 and straps 17 to similar tabs 18, the tabs being anchored to the fuselage of the machine. The pulley allows the airman to turn his shoulders, and by releasing the detents the tube is free to slide against the action of its spring. One or more detents may be used.
