Golf-practising appliances. - The appliance comprises two trays positioned adjacent to each other and each carrying a standard, a head restraining element being adjustably carried by one standard and a hip restraining element being adjustably carried by the other and one of the trays may also carry adjustable foot-positioning elements. One tray 21, Fig. 1, has a mat 27 on which is placed the ball 28, the other having a platform 29 carrying the foot rests 31, 32, but which may be replaced by a second mat if these rests are not required. To each tray are removably attached brackets 35, 36, carrying standards 37, 38. One standard 37 may be in two pieces and upon it slides a sleeve 41 secured in position by a set screw 47. The inner end of this screw bears on a plate spring situated within the sleeve 41 and presses it against the standard 37. Attached to the sleeve 41 is a boss having a rectangular hole through which slides a member 50 supporting the head brace 40. This member is secured in position by a set screw 53 also bearing on a plate spring and is at its outer end bifurcated to receive an arm 61. This arm is fixed in position by a set screw 71 which presses the bifurcated portions of the member 50 against the ends of the arm 61. The head brace 40, with chin strap 73, is rotatable about a pivot 62. The other standard 38 has a telescopic part 77 locked by a set screw 78 and provided with a head in which slides a bar 81 locked by a set screw 84 which bears on a plate spring within the head. The inner end 85, Fig. 9, of this bar is of reduced size and carries a bifurcated member 94 which swivels about a pin 95. The member 94 may be locked in one position by a peg 91. Two arms, 100, 101, pass through a rectangular hole in the member and are positioned within it by a set screw 102 and plate spring 103, the outer ends 98, 99, of the arms 100, 101, encircling the player's hips and being connected by a belt 104. The foot rests 31, 32 consist of plates which can be locked in position by bolts sliding in grooves 110, 111 and 112 and having clamping nuts 114, 116. The rest for the left foot has a heel plate 118. In a modification, Fig. 13, one standard only is used, the head brace 40 being attached to the same standard 38 as the hip brace 104 by a flexible arm 120. The apparatus shown in Fig. 1 may be taken down and packed in one of the trays, the other being used as a cover.
