Abstract
312,252. Embru-Werke Akt.-Ges., and Altorfer, H. Feb. 21, 1928. Weft, cutting.-A weft cutter comprising a blade o<1> rocking between two rigid members f<1>, m<1> to clamp the weft against the member m<1>, and cut it against the member f<1> is moved laterally bodily to prevent breakage of the thread. In the apparatus shown in Fig 9, the shuttle feeler e<1> oscillates about a pivot y<1> under the control of a rod e and lever d<1> and carries the cutter-supporting plate f<11> which is mounted on a pivot q<1> at right angles to the pivot y<1>. A fork r on the plate f<11> engages a cam plate x<1> and causes the cutter &c. to move towards the selvedge as it recedes from the shuttle. The cutter o<1> is opened by a trip lever h<1> engaging its tail i<1> when the feeler and cutter are advanced to the shuttle and is closed when a screw l<1> contacts with the lay. In the apparatus shown in Figs 1 and 2, the cutter &c. are carried by an oblique rod l which slides in the frame a under the control of a rod i lever g and shaft f connected by a lever e and pin d with a slot in the hammer. The shuttle feeler is slid in the frame a by means of a slotted bracket r and carries a trip lever t for opening the cutter n, which is closed when the screw m contacts with the lay. Owing to the oblique position of the rod l, the cutter &c. move towards the selvedge when they are withdrawn from the shuttle.
